Position details

Reports to: Board of Directors
FTE: 0.5-0.8 with seasonal variability and opportunity for growth
Salary: $25,000+ annually DOE with potential for growth in hours and pay
Benefits: 2 weeks PTO annually
Location: Solon Springs, Wisconsin
Work Environment: Primarily office-based, flexible work environment

Position Overview

The Executive Director is responsible for leading and managing all operations of Lucius Woods Performing Arts Center, including marketing, performances, financial management, fundraising, production coordination, and community engagement. This role requires a dynamic leader with strong organizational skills, strategic thinking, and a passion for the performing arts. Peak working hours are during the months of June, July and August.

Necessary Qualifications

  • Budgeting and accounting skills, including Quickbooks
  • Social media fluency and event promotion experience
  • Website building experience
  • Organizational skills
  • Willingness and ability to build and nurture community relationships and partnerships

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Arts in Arts Management, Music Production, or other music-related field
  • Experience in non-profit management

Key Responsibilities

Marketing & Communications


  • Conduct annual market analysis to inform promotional strategies.
  • Develop and implement marketing campaigns.
  • Design and distribute promotional materials (brochures, flyers, etc.).
  • Manage social media platforms and ensure consistent engagement.
  • Maintain and update the website quarterly or as needed.
  • Communicate with Douglas County and attend meetings as needed.


Performance & Event Management


  • Research and recommend performing acts to the Board.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts with performing acts.
  • Coordinate logistics for artist arrivals, setups, and event execution.
  • Manage ticket sales and audience services.
  • Coordinate with vendors for sound, lighting, staging, and other production elements to ensure high-quality performances.


Fundraising & Development


  • Identify and develop fundraising opportunities.
  • Cultivate relationships with donors and sponsors.
  • Lead grant writing and sponsorship acquisition.
  • Attend meetings and assist with Friends of Lucius Woods


Financial Management


  • Prepare and present the annual budget to the Board by October.
  • Provide monthly financial updates to the Board.
  • Ensure responsible financial planning and resource management.
  • Handle payroll, payroll taxes, and accounts payable and receivable.


Volunteer Coordination


  • Organize and manage volunteer involvement.
  • Ensure volunteers effectively manage all on-site operations, including ticket sales, program distribution, and merchandise sales during concerts.


Operational Oversight


  • Report to the Board, prepare meeting agendas and financials.
  • Maintain inventory and ensure operational readiness.
  • Uphold compliance with safety and operational policies.
  • Recruit and hire additional support as needed.
  • Collaborate with local organizations (e.g., Lions Club, Park Services, Friends of Lucius Woods, etc.) to support events.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as needed.
